And I’m Off!

When the scripture says that Lord works in mysterious ways, it isn’t kidding. I’m flying out to Belgium tomorrow, but about two weeks ago I got a surprise email letting me know that the Belgian government denied my year-long visa! Zut alors (as they say)!

Despite the shock, a revised “year for Christ” plan quickly came together. Americans can spend up to 90 (out of 180) days in the EU without special permission. So, I’m happy to report that I will leave on schedule to spend the allowed 90 days working with the Jesus Revolution team in the EU. I’m thrilled to participate in the evangelism training, Bible classes, and early phases of the outreach. As I approach 3 months, I’ll come back to the States for Christmas break, spend some time with my family and then join the inaugural Jesus Revolution team in Fortt Myers, Florida to focus on evangelism and worship outreach throughout the United States (and beyond) while my “EU clock” resets. I’ll then return to the EU for at least two months to help prepare and execute Jesus Revolution’s large-scale, European summer outreach program.

I have to admit, spending the autumn in Namur and the winter in South Florida isn’t exactly a disappointment. But creature-comforts aside, I’m genuinely confident that God knows what he’s about and that all things are working together for my good.

I look forward to sharing more in the near future. In the meantime, I want to tell you plainly how profoundly grateful I am for your prayers and generosity. I am blessed beyond measure to have the chance to participate in this incredible adventure. It feels especially critical to share the Good News of Jesus in our current moment, both in Europe and here at home. In truth, it’s never not critical - it’s always time to grow closer to him and encourage others to do the same (wherever we find ourselves). Nonetheless, there’s urgency in the air.

If you’re praying with me, I’m believing God for:

  • Favor with visas and officials, and a clear path back to Europe in God’s timing.

  • Courage, unity, and fruit as we share Jesus in the EU this fall and across the U.S. this winter.

  • Provision - the unexpected changes brought unexpected expenses with them.,

  • Most of all for divine appointments with open-hearted people hungry for hope.

Next stop, Belgium!
